I don’t know what I ought to say to you. I don’t know what I ought to say to you. I keep it all locked up inside. I rather risk my health than wound my pride, But as I see you walking by, I know that it’s all gone. I don’t know what I ought to say to you. I don’t know what I ought to say to you. I don’t want to lose my shot Because this is the best chance I’ve got, But as I speak, my words get caught And this goes on and on. I don’t want to lose my shot Because this is the best chance I’ve got, But as I speak, my words get caught And this goes on and on. I keep it all locked up inside. I rather risk my health than wound my pride, But as I see you walking by, I know that it’s all gone.

Sitting here alone Hanging like a flag on a summer day. I think of asking you If you would like to get away. But I know the answer’s no. You’ve got your life and I’ve got mine. I should just enjoy myself. Thinking of you is just a waste of time. Another day goes by. Just like the one before, I sit and wonder why. The sky is crystal clear, There’s not a cloud in sight, And I wish that you were here. I should walk around, But that’s no fun when you’re by yourself. You’re probably at the beach, Holding on to someone else. I shouldn’t think this way. All it does is sadden me, But we had more than summer love. It wasn’t just a summer dream. Another day goes by. Just like the one before, I sit and wonder why. The sky is crystal clear, There’s not a cloud in sight, And I wish that you were here. Another day goes by. Just like the one before, I sit and wonder why. The sky is crystal clear, There’s not a cloud in sight, And I wish that you were here.

I fell for another girl Who’s similar to your type. I guess I haven’t moved on Like I said I might. I suppose I should take a chance, Start to deal my cards, But I am too afraid To just let down my guard. Summer girls with autumn smiles. They’ll keep me down for awhile, But then they leave and I remain, And I once again feel the pain. As August comes around, Things just don’t feel the same. I can see your eyes dim As your smile starts to wane. You and I had different goals. We both had different dreams, Now I watch as you are carried Off on an Autumn breeze. Summer girls with autumn smiles. They’ll keep me down for awhile, But then they leave and I remain, And I once again feel the pain. Summer girls with autumn smiles. They’ll keep me down for awhile, But then they leave and I remain, And I once again feel the pain.

Darling, don’t you know: There's more to life than this. You’ll continue to grow, And this is something you won’t ever miss. You’re a flower waiting to bloom, And I hope that you realize it soon. You’re a flower waiting to bloom, And I hope that you realize it soon. Darling, can’t you see: You have so much to give. There’s so much you could be. Please give yourself time to live. You’re a flower waiting to bloom, And I hope that you realize it soon. You’re a flower waiting to bloom, And I hope that you realize it soon. You’re a flower waiting to bloom, And I hope that you realize it soon. You’re a flower waiting to bloom, And I hope that you realize it soon.

Fun in the sun. I don’t know what’s going on, And sometimes that’s the way it should be. Fun in the sun. There is nothing going on, And our world is just the shoreline and the sea. When the sun goes down, We’ll still be around. Time doesn’t matter in times like this. Our lives will start again When we decide that this will end, So for now we’ll enjoy the bliss. Fun in the sun. I am never going home. I’m just gonna stay here in this place. Fun here as one. We all call this place our home, Isolated within all time and space. When the sun goes down, We’ll still be around. Time doesn’t matter in times like this. Our lives will start again When we decide that this will end, So for now we’ll enjoy the bliss. Fun in the sun. I don’t know what’s going on, And sometimes that’s the way it should be. When the sun goes down, We’ll still be around. Time doesn’t matter in times like this. Our lives will start again When we decide that this will end, So for now we’ll enjoy the bliss.

Music doesn’t sound the same without you. What used to excite me is tame without you. Without you by my side, I don’t know how to spend my time, And I don’t wanna live my life without you. I can’t survive in the town without you. Everything is upside down without you. Can’t you hear my cries? Please don’t go and leave me behind Because I don’t wanna live my life without you. I can no longer do the things I used to Because they’re things that I used to do with you. Can’t you hear our cries? Please don’t go and leave us behind Because we don’t wanna live our lives without you.

about

These demos are just some of the demos that were recorded throughout the summer of 2021. Jack Downey got the inspiration for the project at the end of May, and in order to capture the ethos of what he was envisioning, he made some primitive recordings in his room and garage. Now they're out in the world to show everyone what Fort Revere has to offer!

Some of the inspirations for this project include Beat Happening, Beach Fossils, The Drums, Seapony, The Shop Assistants, The Beach Boys, and The Jesus and Mary Chain. In other words, pop sensibilities meet indie rock/garage rock instrumentation. The lyrics are summer-inflected depictions of broken hearts, relaxation, and, on a more serious note, conversations with people dealing with depression. All songs were written by Jack Downey during those summer months.

These demos offer just a glimpse of what Fort Revere can bring to the table, but even as first drafts, they have a certain charm to them that makes them stand out as the soundtrack for summer dreams, no matter who you are.

Thank you, and we hope you enjoy!
